Vincent Pieri

Vincent Pieri

Architect, Founder, and CEO

Hi! I am Vincent Pieri and I am a hopelessly curious human. To feed my curiosity, I like to ask questions about how we humans create our environments and tend to our nests, and I am in a constant state of wonder observing our beautiful Earth, our one and only home, and all it contains. I am passionate about learning and participating in Art, Philosophy, Science, and History! I know that the more I know, the more I know that I know almost nothing! So, there's always room to grow. And that's why I became an architect. My architectural journey began in my hometown, St. Louis, Missouri, where he was influenced by the work of renowned architects, including Louis Sullivan, Minoru Yamasaki, Gyo Obata, and Eero Saarinen. Through my father's work as an architectural technician, I gained early exposure and a passion for the profession. My mother cultivated his appreciation for art and design through visits to cultural institutions like the St. Louis Art Museum and Missouri Botanical Gardens. After graduating from Kansas State University in 1985, I worked at Rossman Schneider and Gadbury Architects in Arizona before moving to Puerto Rico in 1989. I spent nearly a decade as an owner's representative at Banco Popular's Corporate Real Estate Division, gaining valuable insight into client perspectives. In 2003, I founded PIERI + ASSOCIATES ARCHITECTS and became Puerto Rico's first LEED Accredited Professional. Some notable achievements include consulting on the first LEED-certified Starwood property and leading the design team for the Sartorius ECO I project—the world's first LEED Platinum-certified cleanroom manufacturing building. I try to take a pragmatic approach to ecologically intelligent design, balancing the big picture with the finer details and sometimes unpleasant realities of developing our built environment. Over the years, I've held leadership positions with the U.S. Green Building Council and mentored future architects through the Puerto Rico ACE Mentor Program. Any success I've had stems from my ability to facilitate collaboration and foment teamwork, ask critical and clarifying questions, and maintain a sense of humor through it all.
